David Baratta has worked in the financial services industry for over 30 years. In his career he has managed portfolios for a variety of clients including pension plans, endowments, mutual funds and affluent families. David has overseen asset allocation models and researched hundreds of companies across numerous sectors and industries. He has published on companies, economics, and industry trends as well as made guest appearances on CNBC and CNN. Waypoint Capital Advisors uses his experience and knowledge as a complimentary skillset and perspective to assist clients in reaching their goals.

Outside of Waypoint Capital Advisors

David grew up in Maine where he developed a love for boating on the ocean and lakes. He worked in New York City for approximately 20 years, then spent 13 years working in the San Diego area and now lives and works in Henderson, Nevada. David and his wife Joan have two children, one attending and one graduated from college. David is involved in several charities and currently sits on the executive committee of The Legacy Foundation, a San Diego based organization which raises funds for a variety of deserving charities. In his free time he enjoys boating, fishing and belongs to Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey and South Shore Golf Club at Lake Las Vegas.

Jon Kennedy has enjoyed the academic nature of the financial services industry, obtaining both his Certified Financial Planner ™ designation as well as his Masters in Science in Financial Services degree. Jon spent the last eleven years working with complex financial and family issues at one of the top 50 RIA offices in the country. Jon’s ability to assimilate advanced planning techniques he has mastered, to the nuances of real life situations that are unique to each client, creates an optimal client experience for all the individuals and families with whom he works.

Outside of Waypoint Capital Advisors

Jon is actively engaged in various groups such as The Society of Financial Service Professionals, Social Venture Partners, Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church and Children's Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota Legacy Advisor's Group. Jon also initiated a multi-disciplinary study group of trusted advisors in the Twin Cities focused on better assisting families with their charitable planning objectives. When not busy with work and other professional engagements, Jon and his wife Nikki live in the Plymouth area and enjoy time with their two young children.

Mark Pletts has been in the financial services industry since the early ‘80s. Mark has run distribution channels for several large Wall Street money managers which has allowed him to see the inside of many of the top advisory firms across the United States. It is this skill set that he brings to help Waypoint Capital Advisors build a firm that is client centric. Most recently Mark led the business development and marketing effort at a $2B multi-family office. Mark has extensive investment expertise and enjoys helping families think through generational communication issues.

Outside of Waypoint Capital Advisors

Mark is an active member of Westwood Community Church and lives in Chanhassen with his wife Sarah. He has recently joined the board of "Matter", a non-profit that takes corporate surplus and distributes it to families in need. Mark mentors his two sons and helps them navigate the ever changing job market. In his spare time, Mark sits on committees at Hazeltine National Golf Club which hosted the Ryder Cup in 2016.
